Spring 2019: Young Audiences of Louisiana Baby Artsplay!™ at the Museum

Baby Artsplay!™ is offered as a series of six free 30-minute workshops held weekly to engage young children ages 12 to 24 months and their caregivers in research-based performing arts experiences that support their cognitive, physical, and social development.

GNO, Inc. Launches New Orleans Music Economy Initiative

On January 25, 2018, Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), along with music business leaders and economic development partners, launched the New Orleans Music Economy (NOME) initiative.

The New Orleans Music Economy initiative was created to jumpstart a thriving full music economy in Greater New Orleans that provides jobs and wealth to support musicians, intellectual property managers, publishers, agents, labels, professional services, creative services and all other aspects of the “business of music.”

Associated Press: “Curators master’s degree in the works at Xavier University”

A historically black university in New Orleans has been awarded a grant to develop a new graduate degree for museum and gallery professionals.

The Helis Foundation provided the grant to develop a master’s degree in curatorial practice and exhibition management at Xavier University of Louisiana, the school said in a news release last Thursday.

Diverse Issues in Higher Education: “Xavier University to Develop Curatorial Practice and Exhibition Management Program”

With the support of a recent Helis Foundation grant, Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) will develop a new master’s degree in Curatorial Practice and Exhibition Management.

The initiative places XULA among a host of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) that are working to increase diversity in museum and curatorial fields, while expanding representations of African-American and African Diaspora art.
