25 Artists Selected by Juror Courtney J. Martin for 2018 Louisiana Contemporary, Presented by The Helis Foundation, Opening at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art August 4, 2018

NEW ORLEANS — Juror Courtney J. Martin, Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Dia Art Foundation, has selected 34 works by 25 Louisiana artists for 2018 Louisiana Contemporary, Presented by The Helis Foundation. This annual juried exhibition will be on view at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art August 4 – November 4, 2018, with a VIP reception on August 3 and a public opening reception on Hancock Whitney White Linen Night on August 4.

Louisiana Contemporary, Presented by The Helis Foundation is an annual exhibition that promotes contemporary art practices in the state of Louisiana, provides exhibition space for the exposition of art and engages a contemporary audience that recognizes the vibrant visual culture of Louisiana and the role of New Orleans as a rising international art center…

Art & A/C 2018

The Helis Foundation will reprise its “Art & AC” partnership with local FOX affiliate WVUE’s meteorological team. During the month of August, when the temperature is at or above 93 degrees, New Orleans’ three largest arts institutions (New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and Contemporary Arts Center) will open their doors for free the next day to Louisiana residents, courtesy of The Helis Foundation. WWNO-FM: “Touring New Orleans’s Historic Portage Route”

Gambit: “The Magnolia Ball at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art”

The 2018 Magnolia Ball is 9 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, June 9 at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. The event will honor the exhibit The Whole Drum Will Sound: Women in Southern Abstraction, on view through July 22. The party also features live music and DJ sets from some talented locals, such as The Original Pinettes Brass Band and DJ RedStylez. There will be food and cocktails from 20 vendors, including Chais Delachaise, Marjie’s Grill, Meauxbar, Saba and Taceaux Loceaux, and both snacks and libations are included in the price of admission. ..
