NOLA.com: “Thanks to the hot weather, you can visit museums for free Tuesday”

The temperature hit 93 degrees on Monday (Aug. 13). That means on Tuesday (Aug. 14), Louisiana residents can beat the heat at two New Orleans art museums for free, courtesy of The Helis Foundation, as part of the monthlong “Art & A/C” in partnership with FOX8 meteorologists.

Visit New Orleans Museum of Art and Ogden Museum of Southern Art, free of charge. The Contemporary Arts Center is also part of this campaign, but the CAC is closed on Tuesdays…

The Times-Picayune: “Louisiana Contemporary winners celebrated at VIP reception at Ogden Museum”

The call went out across the state, and hundreds of artists answered to enter Louisiana Contemporary presented by the Helis Foundation. This juried art show at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans features works by artists living and working in the state, with entries from New Orleans, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Monroe, Lafayette and other cities and towns.

This year’s juror was Courtney Martin. She’s the deputy director and chief curator at the Dia Art Foundation…
