Notre Dame Observer: “Snite Museum exhibit focuses on African experience”

The Snite Museum of Art’s new fall exhibit stretches through numerous rooms with large paintings, sculptures and even electric metal signs. Biographies of the many artists adorn the walls alongside their respective artwork, giving more of a story to each piece. Each work of art tells some kind of rich and brilliant story, typically etched into the history of the black experience.

This exhibit, entitled “Solidary and Solitary: the Joyner/Giuffrida Collection,” was brought to the Snite Museum by curators Christopher Bedford and Katy Siegel…

Public Garden: “Small garden, big impact”

The ten-acre New Orleans Botanical Garden, located within the 1,300-acre New Orleans City Park, was originally built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s and called simply the “Rose Garden.” One of the main contributors to the creation of the Rose Garden was sculptor Enrique Alférez. In 2012 when we began the design process for our new garden entrance, we decided to focus on the artist’s work and legacy.

WDSU: “Free admission to New Orleans Museum of Art tomorrow”

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans’ top art museums are offering free admission on Wednesday. The Helis Foundation is funding the Art & A/C initiative. The Contemporary Arts Center and Ogden Museum of Southern Art are also participating.
