Nola.com: “New Orleans Museum of Art Fellows Dinner celebrates its top donors”

New Orleans Museum of Art was the apropos setting for its annual Fellows Dinner on Saturday (March 5). The event gives the museum an opportunity to thank its most generous donors for their support over the past year.

Susan M. Taylor, the museum’s Montine McDaniel Freeman director, also announced the recipient of the Isaac Delgado Memorial Award. Since 1975, the honor has been given to a distinguished individual or organization whose long-term service, support and dedication to the museum set precedents for the institution. The 2016 Isaac Delgado Memorial Award went to David Kerstein and The Helis Foundation.

Among NOMA projects the foundation is involved: free admission for teenagers and on Wednesdays for Louisiana residents, and acquisition of major works, including “Battle Royale” by Alexis Rockman and “Melic Meeting” by Robert Rauschenberg.

Other foundation community projects include Sculpture for New Orleans Poydras Street Corridor and the Helis Foundation Enrique Alferez Sculpture Garden in City Park.
