The Historic New Orleans Collection hosted a reception on Monday (April 4) to recognize a unique partnership it has with The Helis Foundation.
Since 2008, the foundation has acquired art and art objects — such as an 1861 F.H. Hatch Presentation Silver Service and “Creole in a Red Headdress,” c. 1840, oil on canvas, by Jacques Guillaume Lucien Amans — for the collection. The reception was to celebrate this collaboration and to preview a catalogue documenting the foundation’s acquisitions. The Helis Foundation President David Kerstein and HNOC Executive Director Priscilla Lawrence were on hand to greet the more than 100 people who attended the soiree at HNOC headquarters, where in addition to food, drink and music by John Rankin, guided tours of the collection were offered.
