Gallier Hall is getting a much-needed renovation.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu and other city officials made the announcement Tuesday morning, saying the work will include the restoration of artwork, chandeliers, windows and much more.
First Lady of New Orleans, Cheryl Landrieu, called the makeup a “legacy project.”
The scope of the work includes restoring about 40 paintings inside the hall, 33 chandeliers and 60 windows located in the grand ballroom.
“We’re executing a vision to completely restore the interior of the building, to really imagine what the building can be like for future generations to come,” said Cheryl Landrieu.
New Orleans 2018 Tricentennial Commission will need $5 million to complete the project. The Helis Foundation donated $145,000 to the renovation.
